Dennis R. Schrader

Owner/Funeral Director

 Dennis R. Schrader was born and raised in Lincoln, Illinois.  He is the son of the late Clarence W. "Jim" and L. Charlene Petersen Schrader.  His two sisters, Roseann Coers and Suzann Lolling live in the Lincoln area.  He attended local grade schools and graduated from Lincoln Community High School in 1970.  He graduated from Southern Illinois University with an associates degree in Mortuary Science in 1972.

    Dennis married Marcia E. Gleason in 1974 and has two children.  Megan Nicole lives and teaches school in the Chicago area.  Derek Wesley will be a junior at Illinois College.

    Dennis started his career with Holland and Barry Funeral Home when he was 15 years old.  He worked under John and Edward Barry during his breaks at Mortuary School.  In 1972, he moved to Sterling, IL and worked there for his apprenticeship and nine years beyond his apprenticeship.  His experience with both firms helped him gain knowledge necessary before he and his partners purchased Fricke Memorial Homes in Lincoln and Mt. Pulaski, IL.

    Dennis is a member of First United Methodist Church where he has been on the Board of Trustees, and the Pastor-Parish & Parsonage Committees.  He was very active in the Lincoln Jaycees and wrote the program on death dynamics.  He was secretary and public relations director for a number of years.  He acheived the award of Ten Outstanding Young Americans, and is currently a JCI Senator.  He is a past board member of Lincoln Public Library, St. Clara's Manor and the American Cancer Society.  He was the first chairman of Jail & Bail for the American Cancer Society.  Dennis was a Courier Citizen of the Month in                 for his dedication to the community.  He also co-chaired the successful campaign for the Republican nomination of John Turner for States Attorney.

    Dennis' current memberships include Lincoln Lodge #210, York Rite and Scottish Rite, Ansar Shrine, Odd Fellows Lodge, Lincoln Chamber of Commerce, Illinois Funeral Directors Association, and the National Funeral Directors Association.

    He enjoys cycling the trails of Illinois, swimming and his travels to Florida. He spends his free time with his family and friends.
